Steel fabricators in Kent – Pipework and vessels a speciality

Introduction

Fluid Control Fabrications Limited, as the name suggests, are primarily concerned with industries that rely on the movement of fluids. These can range from food and pharmaceutical through to paper and cement manufacturing, in fact anywhere that requires pipe – work and processing plant .

We are a local contractor, with both site and workshop facilities, providing a comprehensive service across a wide range of engineering disciplines. Although we are an acknowledged pipe-work and vessel fabrication company, we are also an established steel work supplier and engineering shutdown specialist contractor.

Development

The owner and managing director, who retains a hands on approach to his work, started FCF Ltd. only six years ago. Since then the company has grown to 15 full time employees and is currently managed by 4 staff with technical and professional qualifications to match our needs. Many of our work force are ex- Lakers Process Engineering Ltd. employees including both directors. This gives us an advantage over all other contractors due to the excellent training and experience that has been gained and extensive local industry knowledge.

Skills and experience

Although a considerable amount of our work is undertaken in stainless and carbon steel, the skills base here is of the highest standard with time served fabricators and welders capable of working in all common engineering materials. We frequently work in aluminium and are able to work with exotics when needed. Plastic pipe-work systems are often installed including MDPE systems with nodular welding arrangements. Glass enameled and plastic lined pipe-work is readily accommodated along with the component glassware systems used in pilot plant and chemical process installations.

Flexibility is key to our operations so we are able to migrate our workforce between shop assembly work and site erection. All site personnel are CCSNG (Client/Contractor National Safety Group) passport approved and recognized by the ECITB.  All of our site teams have at least one FLT operator and tower erector when required.

Health and safety is key to our success so care is taken in all aspects of our business. We produce risk assessments and method statements regardless of their requirement and rigidly apply their recommendations.

Minimum PPE is provided for all operations and full use is actively encouraged in all instances.

All work is carefully managed to the highest standards and to a planned schedule. Because we control our contracts to tight financial budgets, efficient working is achieved. We have negotiated some commercially beneficial purchase contracts with our suppliers. All of this means we are able to offer competitive prices throughout the year with little or no variation.

Growth

Due to an increasing turnover it has been necessary to re-locate to new premises in Sittingbourne. We can now proudly boast of a production facility in excess of 18,000 sq. ft. with good access to major roads in North Kent.

We store our stainless steel and carbon steel stocks in separate locations and are in the process of opening up a new stainless steel quarantined workshop to avoid contamination issues.

Client base

The clients we currently provide for are far ranging and extend across the South East of England. Industries served include paper/pulp/power plant/pharmaceutical/effluent/water and food/drink. We can tackle any type of fabrication be it structural or pressure rated and can work with all modern engineering materials. If you are not already on our comprehensive client list, we would be pleased to receive your first enquiry.

Versatility

Within our workforce we employ highly skilled but versatile welders able to undertake code qualifications for specific types of construction. Our turn round time for any new coding is always fast and gives us the edge over our competitors when time is limited

We have excellent machining facilities located in house and close by so can offer a full package when asked for. Design is well catered for due to our close association with local PED specialists and steelwork engineers. Some of our more recent projects have involved “turnkey” contracts whereby we arrange design and build packages tailored to our clients needs. If needs be, we can arrange mechanical installation of free issue equipment and are not limited by size or type of installation.

Installation is something we excel at. Evidence of this can be seen in the attached Jpg files, which demonstrate a wide-ranging ability. The examples include the installation/test/commissioning of an industrial gas main, GMP plant installation (including design, manufacture and installation of jacketed mixing vessels), design, procurement and installation of special mechanical handling equipment and the design, manufacture and site erection of special purpose steel access platforms.

Process plant installations are particularly well represented in our portfolio. We have a broad experience of these types of installations and can assist in the selection and procurement of valves, pumps, heat exchangers and line equipment best suited for the application.

Thank you for taking the time to read this brief appraisal of the services we are able to offer. If you have any further questions or an enquiry we would be pleased to hear from you soon.
